Well it's been a long time since I have added anything to the Blog here, been a crazy busy summer here with not much time for blogging. One of the events we attended this summers was the Atlantic Canada International Air Show, on weekend of Aug 25 & 26 2012 we went both days and had a fantastic time, weather was great and we ended up with thousands of images to weed through and edit. Here are a couple of examples of what we were able to get during these two days.
As I mentioned in this previous posting I would be making another post about the Confederation Bridge. Well where to begin, the Confederation Bridge is a 13km bridge over the Northumberland strait and it connects Prince Edward Island to the mainland, New Brunswick. More detail of the bridge can be found here, the photo in this post was taken from the Prince Edward Island side of the bridge.
Many may know by now if you are following this blog, that we live on a island called Prince Edward Island, if you look it up on a map we are north east coast of Canada. Prince Edward Island is a small province with a pop. of around 140,000 and is a very diverse little Province, some of the main industries are Fishing, Farming, & Tourism. It is a beautiful place during the summer months between June & October but can be a very cold and windy place in the winter.
One of the beauties of Prince Edward Island is it's coast lines, & beaches, we have miles of sandy beaches and many people vist our little island each year during the summer to enjoy these beaches. One of the other beauties I find living on this Island is it's sunsets, some can be very outstanding, and it's nice sometimes to just go to the shoreline and watch the sun set. Here is an photo I took of one such evening while I was photographing the Confederation Bridge (another blog post for another day) I took many shots from about an hour before sunset and for about another 30 min after the sun had set, so I thought I would share one of these for you all to enjoy.
Osprey are fairly common Raptor on Prince Edward Island, and there are several nests close by my area so last night I decided to go check out one of the nests close by. As I was driving close to the area I noticed two of them flying high and in a circle over a wooded area.
When I arrived at the nest I knew that the two that were flying high were likely hunting and would be returning to the nest, so I waited for about 45 minutes and sure enough they returned and I was able to get a few good shots, here is one that turned quite good, it is a heavy crop as the distance I was away from the nest the 70-200mm just wasn't long enough.
